Help Support Our School

Our school is trying to raise money to help get our new daycare home up and running. We're supposed to move into a new building by Christmas. It will take a small miracle and a lot of cash. For those of you who don't know, my school is run by the parents and staff, not a for profit business. The school provides care for families of all incomes and we are only one of two centers in Chapel Hill providing a sliding scale for tuition. If you want to help support our school please consider buying a fresh Fraser Fir wreath or white pine rope to decorate your home for the holidays. To read more about our fundraiser or to print an order form, go to http://www.childcarematters.blogspot.com Mom says you can also send her an email if you'd like to order something. THANKS!

Last weekend my little brother turned 4 months old! Here are some things you might want to know about him:
Who makes him smile the most: Me!
What makes him laugh the most: when I clap my hands and smile at him
What he likes to do: grab his toes, chew fingers, and stand up (with mom holding his hands)

Number of teeth: 1 (yes, one tooth popped up before his 4 month birthday)

ChaCha is still trying to figure out the world and doesn't like it if he can't keep moving, preferably in some one's arms. Mom thinks he just doesn't want to be a baby. He wants to be big like me. I am so lucky 'cause mom says we get to keep him.

New Kid in School

There's a new kid at my school and guess who it is?? Mom's back to work so ChaCha started school this week. I am showing him the way and helping to get him settled in. So far all of the activities have been wearing him out and he can't keep his eyes open at night. Sometimes my teachers bring ChaCha into the Rocket room so I can say hi to him. I also get to rub his head and tickle his toes. I am glad I can help my baby brother at school.

Speaking of Charlie he is getting bigger and bigger. Tonight he turned himself over from his belly to his back. I think it surprised him. He also is starting to like his exersaucer and his new Bumbo seat. He gets to sit on the table and watch me eat breakfast in the morning. Here is a picture of ChaCha in his exersaucer and one of him on his first day of school! There are also some new pictures from Aunt Gooch and Mike's visit on the right side. Mike taught me how to play frisbee golf! And he loves cars almost as much as I do. I loved seeing my Aunt Gooch again, maybe she'll come back soon.

Summer 2009

Mom finally got around to downloading a few pics from my summer. Last month Aunt Gooch came to visit. We had so much fun that she is coming again next week!! Yeah! She nick named my little brother Hurricane Charlie. Mom says he's been downgraded to a tropical storm.

A couple of weeks ago I went "up north" to northern Michigan. I got to see Grandma and Grandpa Soon and Nana and Grandpa. I also got to see lots of cousins and aunts and uncles. I love playing with all of my cousins and being spoiled. Our camera broke half way through the trip so we couldn't get as many pictures as we wanted.

Now we are back home and I've had fun playing with Mom, Dad, and Charlie. Check out the photo album for some recent pictures.

One Month with Charlie

Charlie is now 5 weeks old and already his personality is starting to show! I am having fun with him and always like to give him hugs and kisses. When he cries (which is a lot!) I tickle his toes and make funny faces to try to make him happy. Mom calls Charlie her little pterodactyl or birdy. Dad calls him a little bear. I've had fun with all the visitors, but am sad that they have left. Nana stayed with me for a long time and I told her she could never leave. I hope she comes back soon. I am so lucky because I got to spend time with TWO grandpas and Nana and Tutu! Then Aunt Laurie and my cousins came to see me!

Pictures of Charlie

Here are some shots of Charlie's first week! He's pretty good at eat, sleep, and pooping and he even likes it when I pat his head and tickle his toes. Did I mention that he looks just like me when I was born?

I'm a big brother!

Yesterday I became a big brother. My little brother Charlie was born at 9:39 am. He is big, but not as big as me. He weighed 10 pounds 4 ounces and is 21 1/8 inches long. See, I'm still bigger, but he is awfully cute. I got to go to the hospital and have a birthday party for my new baby. I took Charlie for his first walk around the hospital. I wasn't ready to hold him yet, but maybe today. Here is a picture of me taking Charlie for a walk and one of just him. Mom said she'll be taking lots more pictures soon. Happy Birthday baby Charlie!

Getting Ready

Ben: momma is the baby coming soon?
Mom: Yep, Boo the baby will be here any day now. Does the baby make you feel happy or sad?
Ben: Happy! All babies do is eat, sleep, poop. I'm a big boy and I can do everything! But when the baby comes out can you pick me up again?

Splish Splash -- got to skip a bath

This past weekend it was over 90 degrees, so mom and dad bought me a slip and slide. I think dad had as much fun as me, except he is sore today and I am not!! I wanted mom to give it a try, but she said it wasn't a good idea.

PS: I think my new baby is a girl. If it's a girl, maybe she won't want to play with my cars. Have you voted??

The Master of the Egg Hunt

I got to go to 3 egg hunts this year! And I am a pro egg hunter, that's for sure. The first egg hunt was in our neighborhood on the playground. It started with a parade led by a fire truck! Uncle Tom and Aunt Elisabeth came to watch me look for eggs. Then last week my whole classroom walked to a senior center near my school and we got to hunt for more eggs. I was silly and gave everyone lots of hugs and kisses. I told mommy that the place had a funny smell. Then we took a long drive on the highway to go see Grandma and Grandpa. I got to do another egg hunt and lots of other fun things. I had fun going on a nature golf cart ride, playing golf, going to the beach, to the pool and two playgrounds, and playing with my Grandma and Grandpa.

Ben and Ed's Excellent Adventure

Sorry for the blog pause, but I've been busy! Last week I became a ROCKET! It's the room for the big kids at my school. I miss my buddies from the Stars room, but so far I am making new friends and I like to play with the new toys. Mom and Dad have taken me to lots of fun places, but last weekend Daddy took me on a special adventure to Duke Forest. We hiked all the way down to the river AND we even crossed the river in our bare feet. Mommy would have had a heart attack if she were there, but I begged Daddy to take me across the river.

Who is this big kid?

Can you believe what a big kid I am? Everyday I am getting bigger and bigger and can do so many more things. I even help mom and dad around the house. One of my favorite jobs is setting the table. I have even helped to move furniture and load things up in the car to take to the dump. I can feed the cats and wipe up messes, but I still don't like to pick up my toys. Sometimes I get to help my teachers at school, although lately my teachers say I am wild and woolly and some days I even act high and mighty, whatever that all means!

Bye, Bye Diapers

I am officially a big boy. I can now wear cool spider man underpants all day long without an accident. It's been 10 days since I've worn diapers or pull ups during the day. And I have been keeping my diaper dry at night! Yippee! Mom and Dad are so proud of me. Now I am going to help my friends at school, so they can wear underpants too.

Snow Day!

Yippee! No school today . . . I went sledding for the first time and loved it. I had fun playing in the snow this morning and then I got to watch some of the inauguration. Mom says we have a new President named Barack Obama. He has two daughters and one has the same name as my teacher, Ms. Sasha and my cousin's cat!
If you want to see more photos of me and my neighbors playing in the snow go to:

Pictures from Christmas and Trip to Philly

I had a great Christmas and got to spend lots of time with Mom and Dad. The day after Christmas we drove up to Philadelphia to see my aunts, uncle, Nana, and a bunch of cousins. I had so much fun! Check out Christmas morning at the Kinnaird house and then all the fun things we did in Philly.
